Writing your Will is probably one of the most important documents you will ever have to deal with.
*More than 27 million people have not written a Will. Writing a will is the first and most important step on the road to estate & IHT planning. *Almost four out of five households with dependent children do not have a Will in place in England & Wales.
If you don’t write a Will, then your estate will be split up by the court based on the rules of intestacy. In the worst scenario, this could result in your spouse or partner being forced out of the family home should there be a family fall out over the courts decision.
The RIGHT Will can allow you to:
▪ Specify who you wish to inherit your estate. In what order and in what proportions so that you have comfort in the knowledge that your wishes will be carried out.
▪ Make specific legacies to family and friends or gifts to your favourite charities.
▪ Appoint suitable guardians for young children rather than leaving the decision to the Courts.
▪ Set up maintenance trusts for children to protect their inheritance until an age specified by you.
▪ Protect the inheritance of your children or other beneficiaries should the survivor re-marry.
▪ Protect your share of the property from having to be sold to pay for the survivor’s possible future care fees, thus still having assets to leave to your family.
▪ Avoid paying 40% Inheritance Tax on your estate, so giving more to your chosen beneficiaries rather than the Government.
